What are age-in-place modifications... and why choose Slocum & Co?
our age-in-place modification services
Age in place modification is the process of adapting a home so it stays safe, accessible, and livable as mobility, vision, or health needs change, without requiring a move. It's not just grab bars and ramps. We assess where a home currently falls short, prioritize changes by actual safety impact and cost, and coordinate the work with contractors who understand both accessibility standards and how to do it without making a home feel institutional. People need this when a parent wants to stay in their home longer, after a fall or health scare, or simply as thoughtful preparation before it becomes urgent. The goal is independence, protected by a home built to support it.
Most contractors know how to install a grab bar. Few understand how to do it in a way that protects both safety and dignity, or know when a modification isn't enough and a different conversation needs to happen. With a licensed builder on our team, and firsthand experience guiding loved ones through exactly this, we evaluate a home the way a builder would and have the honest conversation about aging in place versus the next right move, without ever pushing you toward either.

I have had the pleasure of working with Allie of Slocum & Co on several occasions. She assisted with the sale of my mother’s condo, making it a lot less painful.
She was involved in several relocations of my mother due to my mother’s illness. She saw that needed repairs were made and also involved in work done on my home.
Slocum & Co is a highly recommended one stop shop. Not only do they have numerous skill sets but also very understanding and compassionate when dealing with seniors.
What our happy clients are saying
My mom moved recently, and Allie was our realtor. She is awesome! So professional, so pleasant. More importantly, so knowledgeable! She made the transition for my elderly mom seamless and easy. She took care of everything. She went above and beyond what most people would do I feel. We highly recommend her for any real estate need!
